DETROIT (Reuters) -U.S. automakers Ford Motor (NYSE:) and Common Motors (NYSE:) will donate $1 million every, together with autos, to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s January inauguration, firm spokespersons mentioned on Monday.

Insurance policies on tariffs and electrical autos into account by the incoming administration would have an effect on Detroit carmakers akin to Ford, which is struggling to ramp up and promote its battery-powered fashions.

Republican Trump has proposed broad tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, in addition to killing an EV tax credit score that advantages Ford.

Ford CEO Jim Farley informed reporters this month he was optimistic Trump could be open to listening to the corporate’s views on these actions.

Trump raised a file $106.7 million for his 2017 festivities.

Democratic President Joe Biden raised $61.8 million for his 2021 inauguration, with contributions from firms together with Pfizer (NYSE:), AT&T (NYSE:) and Boeing (NYSE:).
